The Certificate in Health Science (SSK) offered by MAIWP Professional College (KPMAIWP) is a foundational programme designed for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers who aspire to build a career in the rapidly growing healthcare sector. This programme equips students with the essential scientific knowledge, practical skills, and professional values required for both further academic studies and future employment in health-related fields.

As a dedicated pathway, the programme prepares students to transition seamlessly into Diploma-level studies and, subsequently, higher academic qualifications across various healthcare disciplines. Through a balanced combination of theoretical learning, laboratory practical sessions, and hands-on training, students develop a strong understanding of fundamental health science concepts while enhancing their critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The curriculum is carefully designed to align with current healthcare industry needs and addresses the increasing demand for competent healthcare personnel in Malaysia. Graduates of this programme will be well-equipped to pursue further education or embark on entry-level careers in healthcare support services and related industries.

This programme aims to produce graduates who can:

  • Demonstrate Fundamental Knowledge: Utilize facts to describe, discuss, and explain basic knowledge, concepts, principles, and processes in health sciences.

  • Solve Problems Effectively: Apply fundamental principles of health science to identify, analyze, and solve relevant problems.

  • Execute Practical Skills: Perform basic practical and clinical skills safely, effectively, and ethically.

  • Communicate Clearly: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with peers, healthcare professionals, and the community.

  • Utilize Digital Tools: Apply information technology and digital tools effectively to support work and studies related to health sciences.

  • Conduct Independent & Team Research: Collect, analyze, organize, and process information to draw sound conclusions, working efficiently both individually and in groups with minimal supervision.

  • Commit to Lifelong Learning: Search, interpret, and utilize relevant information in health sciences to pursue independent, lifelong learning.

  • Uphold Professional Ethics: Practice professionalism in strict accordance with social, ethical, and legal principles.

Applicants must fulfil ONE (1) of the following requirements:

  • Possess the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with ONE (1) credit in any subject AND a pass in any Science subject; OR
  • Pass the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 2 in a related field. (Note: Higher Education Providers (HEPs) are required to conduct appropriate screening and provide specific guidance related to the programme for prospective students). OR
  • Pass the GCE O-Level with Grade C in ONE (1) subject and a pass in any Science subject; OR
  • Possess any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of Malaysia.

Graduates of the Certificate in Health Science (CHS) may pursue entry-level positions in healthcare support services and related industries, including:

  • Community Health Support Assistant

Graduates of the Certificate in Health Science (CHS) may continue their studies at the Diploma level at UniMAIWP or other recognised public and private higher education institutions (IPTA/IPTS) in Health Sciences and other related fields.

DR. RUZIAH BINTI GHAZALI

Board of Director

YBhg. Dr. Ruziah Binti Ghazali is a prominent leader in Malaysia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, recognized with the Special Award for Master Coach in Education Development from TVETecoUSIM. She advocates for Islamic TVET and supports individuals with disabilities, contributing to the book “Nothing is Impossible – Success Stories of Persons with Disabilities.”

As a scholar and Islamic Woman Entrepreneur, she focuses on women’s and community development and was honored as Tokoh Saidatina Aishah during National Women’s Day in 2021.

Dr. Ruziah holds a PhD in Educational Development from Universiti Putra Malaysia, a Master of Science in Educational Science, and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Islamic Studies from the University of Malaya. She is also a licensed Company Secretary and Tax Agent.
