KUALA LUMPUR, June 22, 2026 – The commitment of the corporate and educational sectors to empowering the socio-economic agenda of the Muslim community (ummah) was highlighted today as Kolej Profesional MAIWP (KPMAIWP) fulfilled its obligation by paying business zakat to the Zakat Collection Centre of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (PPZ-MAIWP).
The symbolic handover of the business zakat, amounting to RM200,060.00 via a mock cheque, was presented by Mr. Mohamad Amzari bin Aziz on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of KPMAIWP to YBhg. Dato’ Haji Ahmad Azam bin Ab Rahman, Chairman of PPZ-MAIWP.
The presentation ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), YB Senator Puan Marhamah binti Rosli, alongside YBhg. Datuk Haji Syed Kamarulzaman bin Syed Kabeer.
The zakat handover took place during the 2026 Corporate Zakat Ceremony held at the World Trade Centre (WTC). The event brought together corporate companies that consistently fulfill their zakat obligations as part of their commitment to the socio-economic development of the Muslim community.
KPMAIWP was among 22 corporate companies that contributed business zakat, adding to a total collection of RM49,901,747.28 recorded at the event.
The zakat contribution from KPMAIWP not only reflects a high level of Shariah compliance, but also serves as a catalyst for expanding the distribution and benefits of zakat to those in need, helping to address urban poverty within the Federal Territory.
Through this noble effort, KPMAIWP continues to excel as an institution that produces knowledgeable human capital while demonstrating an active role in building a more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive socio-economic ecosystem for the Muslim community.
